Who we are

The team at Stir Devotion consists of women who believe that the entire Bible—including the New and Old Testaments—is God-breathed and given to us for instruction in righteousness. A few things that set us apart from the typical Christian down the street:

✔ We keep a seventh-day Sabbath.

✔ We observe God’s holy days (as first given to Israel and later upheld by Jesus and his apostles).

✔ We believe that the Holy Spirit dwelling in believers is just a small portion (“downpayment”) of God’s power—not a separate God being.

✔ Rather than going to heaven right after we die, we believe that there are multiple resurrections of the dead, each in his or her own time.

✔ We believe that God’s kingdom will someday be established on the earth, not up in the sky.

✔ We abstain from eating meats that God calls “unclean.”

Does any of this sound weird to you?

We invite you to stick around and discover WHY we would come to such unusual doctrinal conclusions. Here at Stir, we value truth over tradition, and we are willing to swim against popular doctrinal currents in an effort to worship God the way He asks us to.

Our mission is to bring doctrinal accuracy into the women's devotional space.

We love the bite-sized, relatable style of devotionals, yet many published devotionals are full of error.

If you are seeking to worship in spirit AND in truth, we hope you’ll find our content enriching and scripturally sound.

  • Kami attends church in Fort Worth, Texas. She is a coffee snob and enjoys reading novels while her household dissolves in chaos around her. She might take over the world someday—she is waiting to see how her kids and other miscellaneous beginner projects turn out.

  • J’Non’s church home is in Fort Worth, Texas. She loves savoring layers of metaphor like one appreciates a flaky pastry. She finds nature romantic except for all the carnage. She recently has indulged in a fit of adventurous baking with family. She loves solitude, people, and paradoxes.

  • Kathleen and her family currently live near Cincinnati, Ohio. She is deeply invested in her one cup of coffee a day, as evidenced by the fact that she microwaves it at least 4-5 times, and loves a good book analysis with her five year old on the way to school.

  • Barb attends church in Cincinnati, Ohio. She loves hanging with her children and hibernating with her grandchildren in Alaska. She loves history and sign language, and talking with friends in any language.

  • Sarah lives in the DC metro area. She is constantly trying to balance her time between epic adventures and sitting under her heating blanket reading a good book.

  • Melissa lives near Louisville, Kentucky with her husband and four children. When she isn’t on the pickleball court, you’ll find her starting innumerable creative projects or jumping into the first few chapters of her latest personal growth book, knowing she won’t have time to finish it before the next intriguing title catches her eye.

  • Meaghan attends church in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a Bible studying, homeschooling, sourdough baking and selling, historical fiction reading, chicken raising, gardening and seed collecting mama. She adores her husband and daughter, even when they cause her to eat more chocolate.
